H₂Optimize Hackathon

Are you ready to make a real impact on Palestinian climate resilience in the region?

We are excited to invite you to the H₂Optimize Hackathon, taking place on July 19-20, 2025! This unique event is part of a regional effort to empower youth to address one of the most urgent climate challenges in the Middle East and North Africa: reducing water waste in irrigated agriculture through low-cost smart solutions.

About the Initiative

The H₂Optimize Hackathon is organized by the MENA Regional Network on Climate Change (MENA RNCC), an initiative of HSF. The MENA RNCC brings together innovators, researchers, and organizations from across the region to tackle climate change through dialogue, innovation, and cooperation. The network focuses on supporting resilient food and water systems, achieving carbon neutrality, protecting biodiversity, and ending plastic pollution.

As part of this mission, the H₂Optimize Hackathon aims to spark youth-led innovations that help farmers and communities use water more efficiently, reduce waste, and adopt smart, cost-effective practices tailored to local realities.

Who Can Apply?

We invite Algerian, Egyptian, Jordanian, Lebanese, Moroccan, Palestinian, Syrian, and Tunisian teams of three young innovators (ages 18-35), and one guest team from outside the MENA region. We encourage diverse, interdisciplinary teams to apply!
